Pilgrim’s Pride.
Jul 21st
Three days ago a pilgrim arrived at the shop I run on Fourth Street. I was fussing with boxes in a back corner when the tinkling of the old rusty bell above the door signaled a customer. It was a rare sound – customers weren’t in the mood for rare books these days, what with the economy in such a slump – so I quickly pushed a box of old magazines into a shelf and hurried to the front of the store.
I paused at the top of the three stairs that led down to the cashier desk – a pilgrim? More >
Midnight
Sep 27th
It was close to midnight when I turned off the alarm and cracked open the front door to listen for another scream. I’ve been in the mood to write something a bit macabre, or at least something that doesn’t necessary have a happy ending – something with darkness, but filled with desire.
And thus I came up with Thorn Valley. Although it hasn’t been vetted properly, here’s the first chapter of the short story soon to be published. Enjoy, and I welcome comments.
Thorn Valley is a desolate place – or perhaps more accurately described, a dead place. A place where no plant, no animal, no anything could last for more than a few hours – maybe a day. Even the winds and rains More >
The Peregryn – A new short, Now Available
Mar 2nd
Marvelous and wonderful things often happen when the night is cold and the moon is shrouded in a deep and winding fog. A light mist of rain can even set the mood for magical and spiritual events.
On my night, the night when these marvelous, wonderful, and according to the barometer, magical things would happen, my luck brought me here to this deserted and lonely place in the middle of the park.
Thus begins the latest short story by author Heath L. Buckmaster. The Peregryn takes us on a cold and mystical journey, when the unnamed main character receives a strange letter in More >
