Have I mentioned lately how uninspired I am, lately?
I look to my right and there is a stack of books just waiting for my red pen to edit them. Good books too. Books that you probably want to buy some day. Books that mock me relentlessly with their mockyness.

The Strategic Pause.

Today I will be discussing a linguistic tool called the Strategic Pause.
First, an illustration:
Heath: “Wow the kitchen is a mess!”
David: “And that is why I’m going to clean it!”
Heath: “Yay!”
David: “Later tonight.”
Heath: “Oh…”
The Strategic Pause is a highly effective linguistic tool that can be used in conversation for three main purposes to elaborate on the original statement with: humour, negation, or reversal.

That was the comment I got earlier today from “viagra india”.
I was pretty happy to have a comment in the first place, but even more excited that FINALLY someone notices my writing skills. Being an independent author isn’t all it’s cut out to be people.
It’s hard work. It’s tough. The rejection from myself is almost unbearable at times. There are days when I wonder, “can I really go on another day…another moment…another second even in this bath of torture that I have drawn for myself?”

Egg Orgasm Anyone?

Apparently an egg can have an orgasm, and it feels like a spoon scraping the insides out of a soft-boiled version.
But even more shocking is that if you had actually been the one to compare a human orgasm to that, you would have won the Literary Review Bad Sex in Fiction Award.
Some people say there is no such thing as bad publicity…so why not have bad publicity for a sex metaphor.

An Interview and a Book Excerpt

Today I sat down for a quick interview and book reading to discuss my latest short story Thorn Valley, and my newest book, Sweet Kisses – Memories of Hayden Chalmers.
Thorn Valley is currently available in softcover and Kindle editions.
Sweet Kisses is currently available in pre-release on Kindle, with the softcover release coming April 2009.
